Our Story
“From time to time in the past Invercargill and Southland have lost industries and population to the north, but always there has been a solid body of Southlanders who have had undiminished optimism, confidence and faith in the Province and its capital..
..The future is full of promise. Southland is one of the best, if not the best, farming districts in New Zealand. It has land and a climate well suited to farming and the growing of commercial forests; its mineral resources have only been scratched.
Perhaps the greatest asset is of the character of its people. That remains as good as ever. The pioneers laid the foundations securely, succeeding generations built on them and the generations to come I am convinced, continue the good work. The next hundred years may well have great things in store for Invercargill and Southland. “
